Conversation in the buffet line at Bill and Luna's wedding
I have no idea what any of this food is. But it's DELICIOUS!

Is it now? Erm... yes, I suppose it might be... that is to say... um...

What, mate? Here, try some of this ... stuff. It has things on it!

I seem to have lost my fork somewhere along the way. And unless you know a spell to magically remove all of the fat from that... Merlin, it does look delicious, doesn't it?

Thanks, but I'll stick to this. I think it's... what, balela? I don't know, but chick peas are good, yes?

Oh, nonsense. It's a wedding. There are no diets at weddings. It's BAD LUCK!

Here, have some of these... things. And this stew stuff, and some round flat bread, and more of those other things...

Sirius, there is a better than decent chance that Poppy is around here somewhere, and I don't care to hear...

SIRIUS! Stop that! Good Gods, man, how am I supposed to eat all of this? Even on the best of nights, it would--

Oh, for heaven's sake, fine! I'll try that lamb stew. It does smell fantastic.

Oh don't fret it. I'll finish anything you don't eat. And it's a party for Poppy as well, you know. If she says a word, she'll sound a right dour bitch, and nobody wants that.

Oi! Look, more champagne! We need that!

Champagne. Yes, that's... wonderful. Listen, Sirius, have you seen Wort around? Last I knew, she was taking our present up to put it with the others.

Oh, she's around somewhere. There's a whole playground for the kiddies, she'll be fine.

I still say we should have got them the self-warming Turkish carpet. Warm toes are important!

We've already been over this.

First point - a carpet is better chosen by the person who will have it in their room.
Second point - I can't completely erase the possibility that you were getting it because it was something you wanted.
Third point - they wanted a hammock, and in getting them one, we also ended up getting one which will be well and wonderful this summer, and I dare say on our trip to Canada, as well.

The Hammock was a much better choice

Oh all right, all right. It's too late now, in any event. I'm sure they'll love the hammock. We need to break ours in!

I'm keeping the carpet. We'll put it in the bathroom to keep our feet warm after a bath.

Look! LAMB ON STICKS! What a brilliant idea!

...I'm running out of room on my plate.

Then you'd better eat some of what you have so as to make more room, darling.

Oh, hey! No fair putting the empty sticks on my plate!

Otek! Otek! There's a bouncy castle, and swings, and little carts to ride in and SIX types of ice cream! And sticky cake!

No, Sticky cake, too? Tell me, my sweet, have you had anything but sweets and cakes tonight? Any meat, or greens? There are some lovely breads and potatoes, as well.

And you're behaving yourself well enough?

Um... oranges in syrup! That's not cake! And the crunchy things with nuts on!

I've been good! I pushed the babies on the swings. Not too hard, I promise.

Minna stepped on my frock when we were climbing. But I didn't say anything bad!

Oranges in-- crunchy things? Artemesia Sophia Lupin, you know full well that none of those things make for a proper dinner. Now, go and get one of those... meat on stick things, and have some of that bread and those... those fruit things!

And no more sweets, puddings, cakes, or anythings in syrup until you've had something decent!

You were climbing a tree? Or the bouncy castle. I don't think I've ever seen a bouncy castle before.

Bouncy castles are brilliant! They, um, they blow up and you can be inside them like a big balloon and bounce around!

Aawww, but it's a party, Otek! Everyone eats sweets at a party, that's the rules!

Indeed! Miss Lovegood-who-was! And the sabanikhiyat are truly excellent.

A marvelous party. The bride is lovely, the groom is happy, and there is more than enough good food, good drink, and good cheer for a dozen weddings!

Saba...? Well yes, they're delicious, whatever they are.

How've things been with you, then? I've not been paying much attention to Hogwarts of late. I'm a wizard of leisure these days, when running after the Wortlet allows me to be.

The little spinach turnovers during the cocktail hour? They passed a great many with the dolmas and such, but I did see rather a large basket of them at the buffet. A most delicious savoury. So flaky and delicate and such richness!

Ah, the school is much as it ever is, with its troubles and its triumphs. We pass like shadows in its eternal corridors, yes? But a wedding! A wedding speaks to the future and the next generation. Delightful, delightful.

Indeed! Indeed! And this lovely marquee is a flourish rather than a necessity. Oh my, and my glass is empty. Oh! There you are you fine Elf, thank you.

Such an excellent Elf, always so attentive. I must commend Luna highly on her household.

Luna always had fine taste in elves. Spoils them rotten, but they appreciate it, I daresay.

She does look... radiant, doesn't she? I do believe she's filled out a bit. Marriage suits her.

A light hand, a light hand. Mmm, delicious.

And she does. I must say she is looking quite improved these days. I don't like to criticise, but I find women always look rather better with a fuller figure, and although she hardly approaches such, she has lost a bit of that hungry look, yes?

Next generation, Sirius. Did you hear that?

*sets plate aside*

It makes a man wonder what it might be like to have another baby around the house, doesn't it?

Delightful, simply delightful. And Luna is looking well, is she not? Positively glowing! I've never seen a lovelier bride, and I've seen many!

Have you tried the mushroom salad, such lively flavors. Quite one of my favourites.

Quite made for each other, don't you agree? We shall see something there soon, I think.

Ah, yes! The balela! It's marvelous, the freshness of the flavours. Quite divine. And have you tried the fuul mademmas? Oh, don't worry, Poppy is over there getting tipsy and eating ice cream. Not that any of this is terribly bad for one. It's all delightfully fresh and light.

Yes, Balela. I don't imagine it would be terribly difficult to make oneself. And I must say, I do quite like it.

Sirius seems to be enjoying the meat on skewers - sticks as he calls them. I seem to have acquired quite the pile of skewers here.

Poppy's... oh good. To be honest, I'm more worried about what it would do to my heart to sit through another one of her lectures rather than the damage done by a few skewers of lamb.

Oh, it's quite simple. Merely the excellence of the ingredients and the delicacy of the seasoning. The salads are always such a burst of freshness and flavour. The cucumber, as well. Incomparable.

Don't let her worry you, lad. She's not one to fuss at a wedding. Not unless you intend to eat the entire pot of lamb tagine yourself. And if you do, well simply tell her you made good acquaintance with the fish and the chicken, as well.
